This is fantastic news following on from a cracking week of golf in Ireland.

Adare Manor will be officially confirmed to host the 2026 Ryder Cup on Thursday.

The newly revamped course, owned by JP McManus, was one of several courses biding to take the honour of holding one of the most prestigious golf tournaments.

The event is huge for Ireland as it will see tens of thousands of tourists attend and could be worth €160m to the economy.

It has a TV audience of up to one billion people and over 270,000 people attended the last Ryder Cup in Paris.

The next Ryder Cup will be held in Whistling Straits in Wisconsin and then it will be held in Rome in 2022.
