Is it your dream to police Ireland’s streets and do your bit for the community and keep them safe? Well yer in luck so, as An Garda Síochána have launched a recruitment drive to find 800 new candidates.
Applications close on the 1st June, so you’ve still got a good bitta time, and women are especially encouraged to apply for the roles.
Here’s what you need to have to apply:
- Be aged between 18 and 35 as of 1 June 2017, i.e. born between 31st May 1982 and 1 st June 1999
- Possess an Irish Leaving Certificate with a grade D3 minimum in five subjects at Ordinary Level OR hold a Level 5 Certificate (Major award) on the National Framework of Qualifications OR hold a recognised qualification (at level 5 or greater), deemed comparable to the above in terms of both level and volume of learning as determined by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI)
- A proven proficiency in at least two languages, one of which must be Irish or English
- Possess what the Garda refer to as being “medically and physically fit, who have a dedicated sense of community spirit, are empathetic, and who are passionate about helping other people”
