Amazon opening fulfilment centre in Ireland and creating 500 jobs in the process

Katy Thornton

Following Brexit and a difficult year of unemployment, this comes as welcome news.

If you have found it frustrating ordering off Amazon since Brexit took effect, this may cheer you up. Amazon is planning to open an Irish warehouse and fulfilment centre, which will create 500 news jobs.

We are looking at spring 2022 before it opens, but it will be hugely helpful once it does. That it is creating so many jobs in the process is also fantastic to hear. The centre will be located in Baldonnell Business Park in Dublin 22.

According to RTÉ News the new warehouse and centre, “will provide faster delivery for customers across Ireland, including one-day delivery on thousands of items.”

There is also to be a second delivery station in Northwest Logistics Park in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15.

Recruitment has already started for some of the new roles including engineers, HR and IT specialists, and healthy and safety officers. Warehouse roles won’t begin recruiting until closer to the time of opening. RTÉ News reports that this will bring the Irish workforce for Amazon up to “5,000 people by 2022.”

We can’t wait to see the positive impact this will have.
