An Elderly Man Has Died In A Rural House Fire

An elderly man in his 80s has died after a fire broke out at a rural home last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 10pm on Tuesday night, where they tackled the blaze in the property at Knockerra, near Kilrush in Co Clare.

Firefighters discovered the elderly man on arrival, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Irish Independent have reported that the Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.
