Full-time staff at An Post will be given €300 One4All vouchers as a small thank you for their hard work during the pandemic.
An Post has confirmed that it will reward staff with €300 One4All vouchers as a small thanks for their hard work over the past few months. Flat out delivering the nation’s letters, packages and online deliveries, over one million extra parcels have been delivered during lockdown – a huge jump in comparison to the same period last year.
Almost 8,000 staff qualify for the bonus – including staff on the frontline as well as those working behind the scenes. Part-time staff will be given vouchers on a pro-rata basis.
Speaking this morning, General Secretary of the Communications Workers’ Union Steve Fitzpatrick said that they wanted to give workers a boost to show their appreciation for taking on extra duties.
“With the pandemic and people being at home, shopping at home has just gone through the roof and we weren’t really prepared for it”, he said. Adding that while the infrastructure is there for letters, there isn’t much by way of services for delivering big parcels to people’s homes.
Saying that the past few months have been like a “Longer Christmas”, it’s hoped that the gesture will show staff that their tireless work is very much appreciated.
