It’s become almost ritual now for the English coaches to give a dig to Ireland before the big Six Nation clash.
Last year, unforgettably, Eddie Jones called the Ireland squad ‘scummy’ in a leaked video tape.
And now, his defence coach, John Mitchell has described Ireland’s tactics on the field as “boring”.
Ireland are arguably the best in the world and, for me, are a side who – through their process being a well-coached side – are resilient and they will try to bore the s**t out of us basically,” Mitchell said to the BBC.
“Ultimately, it will come down to a small piece of possession when you’re not focused that can hurt you, in a contest like this.”
So, here’s some footage of Ireland being “boring” in the last 12 months – as they clinched a Grand Slam and beat New Zealand to become the number one team in the world…
As a proud sponsor of Irish Rugby, we’d like to apologise for boring England’s defence coach John Mitchell. What can we say, some things you never tire of #IREvENG #ReadyForMore pic.twitter.com/XrKPVhuCdY
