Bus Éireann Strike Now ‘Inevitable’ According To Unions

James Fenton

Some grim news for commuters this Friday afternoon.

Dermot O’Leary from the National Bus and Railworkers Union says workers will not take today’s cost-saving measures lying down.

Referring to cuts announced by transport bosses today, which include a blanket reduction in allowances, as well as cuts overtime rates, Sunday premiums, and sick pay benefit, Mr. O’Leary said:

“Industrial action at this stage, based on that letter, is now inevitable. The workers at Bus Eireann won’t take this lying down”

According to 98fm, DART and Dublin Bus workers could take action in solidarity with Bus Éireann staff.
