These Were The Coldest Places In Ireland This Morning

Ireland was faced with some seriously freezing temperatures this morning, with some parts plummeting as low as -8C.

Earlier this week, Met Éireann extended a status yellow snow-ice warning for the whole country, which will remain in place until Saturday afternoon at 12pm, and it’s been getting steadily colder ever since.

Katesbridge in Northern Ireland reached absolutely Baltic temperatures this morning, dropping as low as -8.2C, according to Sky News.

It was cold overnight. Temperatures at some of our weather stations at 6am.

Mullingar: -4.8C
Mount Dillon: -4.0C
Oak Park: -3.7C
Ballyhaise: -3.4C
Grange: -3.1C
Gurteen: -2.7C
Shannon Airport: -2.7C
Moore Park: -3.4C
Phoenix Park: -3.9C
Casement: -3.0C

Dublin Airport wasn’t too far behind at -5.8C, followed by Mullingar at -4.8C and Mount Dillon at -4C, which was measured at 6am this morning.

But despite the icy conditions, it doesn’t look like everyone is going to see some serious snow just yet.

Met Éireann has said there will only be “significant accumulations” of snow on high ground on Thursday.

The forecaster said, “On Thursday, a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow will move in accompanied by strong easterly winds.

“Significant accumulations of snow are possible on high ground and with some accumulations to lower-levels at times.”
