Cork City Council Announce Dates Of ‘Glow’ Christmas Festival 2019

Brian Dillon

It’s beginning to look a lot light Christmas. Well, it will soon, anyway.

Because Cork City Council have announced the dates of this year’s instalment of the Glow Christmas festival, and we are buzzing.

‘Glow – A Cork Christmas Celebration’ will be back again at  Bishop Lucey Park for four dates this Winter:

  • Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1
  • Friday, December 6 to Sunday, December 8
  • Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15
  • Friday, December 20 to Sunday, December 22

The festival will see the return of the famous Ferris wheel and festive market to Grand Parade.

The Market will open from 12pm until 8.30pm each day, while the entertainment in the park will start at 4.30pm and finish at 8.30pm each day.

But the festive fun is set to begin before all of that.

On Sunday, November 17, the countdown to Christmas officially begins as the lights will be switched on by Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor John Sheehan.

Large crowds are expected, so attendees are being advised to give themselves plenty of time to get into Cork City Centre on the day.

People are also being told to take note of changes in bus routes and road closures on the day.
