The army bomb disposal team were called in yesterday after fishermen discovered an ‘explosive device’ nearby.

The device, which was later confirmed to be a World War II mine, was discovered off the coast of Kinsale, Co. Cork yesterday.

The Kinsale yacht club Harbour Master issued a warning to locals following the discovery, though thankfully the area has since been declared safe.

The mine was quickly made safe by the bomb disposal team on the pier next to where it had been found.
