Emotions were fraught in court today (Friday) as a teenager appeared accused with the murder of an Irish Mum on Christmas Day.

Jayne Toal Reat, a nurse and mother, was stabbed to death in front of her daughter in Lisburn on December 25.

The man in question is also charged with two counts of attempted murder after another man and woman were seriously injured in the incident.

According to Independent.ie, as the man was being led away after hearing at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, Jayne’s daughter Charlotte had to be restrained as she shouted “it’s not fair, it’s not fair”.

Charlotte described the awful Christmas morning incident incident in a heart-breaking Facebook post, saying that her mother died a “hero”.

She wrote:

“Today will be a day i will never forget as my mum was murdered infront of my eyes and then later died in my arms. i can still feel her in my arms and hear her screams of pain and see the panic on her face.

“My mum died saving me, i was stabbed twice in the head once in my face and once to the back of my neck. i am with family and have to identify my beautiful mothers body tomorrow which is not something i ever expected to be doing.”
