It has been confirmed this morning that the remains of 26-year-old Mayo man, David Gavin have been found in Canada.
The Breaffy native went missing just over nine months ago at the end of June.
He had been living and working in Canada, and went diving with friends in Beaver Creek on June 30 but failed to re-surface.
A GoFundMe page was set up which raised thousands of euro to help his family and friends with the search.
The news was announced in the early hours of Sunday morning, Irish Time, when The Vancouver Irish Sporting & Social GAA Club, released a statement on their Facebook page which reads:
“We at the ISSC Vancouver, and on behalf of the extended GAA community in Vancouver, are relieved to announce that the remains of David Gavin were found this afternoon in Kinbasket Lake. Water levels had reduced greatly in recent weeks to allow a search to be resumed.
“David’s family and that of his girlfriend Ciara were present at the lake today. They wish to thank everyone for their continued support.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
