Do You Wake During The Night? Then This Trick Could Save You

Alana Laverty

We all suffer with a bit of insomnia every now and then.

And waking in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back to sleep is just THE WORST.

You’re lying there, counting down the hours til your alarm will go off – driving yourself further into the depths of insanity.

But what if there were a cure?

A very surprising cure…

Wendy Troxel, PhD, told Byrdie that, instead of lying there stressing out in the dark, you should actually distract your mind.

“Our brains learn by association, and to sleep well, you want your brain to have a strong learned association between the bed and sleep.”

Our beds are for sleeping – not for worrying or stressing.

So the best thing you can do is read a book or magazine, using low or dim lighting. And stop stressing about how much time you’ve left to sleep.

Distract yo’self.

Sure, give it a go – what harm?
