It looks like Donald Trump could be set to visit Ireland this June following his state visit to the UK.
The US president will be in the UK from June 3 to 5 and it’s reported that “some enquiries” have been made into him coming to Ireland afterwards.
The Irish Times reports that no plans have yet been confirmed but if they were to go ahead, Trump would likely be visiting Ireland “in a personal capacity”.
Trump previously planned to visit Ireland last November, but this was later cancelled ‘for scheduling reasons’.
A ‘Say Nope To The Dope’ protest had also been planned to take place at College Green in Dublin during the visit, where thousands of people were expected to attend.
During a visit to the White House last year, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said, “The invitation that Enda Kenny made to Donald Trump stands. Donald Trump has invited me to Washington DC and he is going to invite me to his house.
“I think it is absolutely appropriate, it’s normal hospitality, that when somebody invites you to their front room in their house that you reciprocate with an invitation.”
