Tis the season to be jolly for a lucky married couple from Dublin who were full of the festive spirit as they collected a whopping €1 million Lotto Plus 1 top prize with a ticket they bought online.
The winning couple revealed that they plan to keep their win private for the time being and they hope to use a ‘Secret Santa’ to especially treat their loved ones over Christmas without letting the cat out of the bag.
How thoughtful is that.
“The €1 million win is still a huge shock for us to even contemplate telling anybody. We plan on taking some time out to get to terms with it and when the time is right, we will tell our family – but not right now.
“We are going to make it an extra special Christmas however and we have some exciting plans up our sleeves to ensure that Santa is extra generous this year,” they said.
Online National Lottery players are certainly on a Lotto hot streak with two millionaires made through the @lottery.ie online platform in the past week alone.
So far in 2018, almost €36 million has been paid out in prizes to online players which includes two Lotto jackpots worth €6.6 million (Saturday 8th December) and another €7.1 million jackpot which was won in Leinster last February.
Sitting in the National Lottery’s winners’ room, the Dublin couple explained their reaction to an email which they received from the National Lottery which alerted them to their €1 million win.
“It has been an incredible couple of days – ever since we got that life-changing email on Wednesday night. I’m used to winning smaller amounts on Lotto so I’d be fairly used to getting the congratulatory emails after the draw but this one was different because it didn’t mention my amount.
“My jaw absolutely hit the floor when I checked my ticket in my account to see that it had won the €1 million prize,” said the winning wife.
What a way to start the Christmas period.
