An elderly couple, both believe to be in their 80s, were found murdered in their home on Friday afternoon.

Belfast Live reports that they were discovered at the house in Upper Ramone Park in Portadown, Co Armagh and there are unconfirmed reports that the couple may have disturbed a burglary before the attack.

A man ages 40 has been arrested following the incident, and Detective Chief Inspector Geoffrey Boyce said:

“Police investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspicious deaths of an elderly man and woman in the Craigavon area have arrested a 40 year old man.

“There are no further details at this stage.”

It's understood the couple were found by a family member around 4pm.
