Elderly Woman Attacked With Crowbar In Church Donation Box Robbery

An elderly woman has been attacked with a crowbar after she intercepted a man in an Armagh church.

The Irish Examiner reports that the woman, who is in her 70s, was left shaken and bruised after the incident which occurred in St Patrick's Church in Portadown last Friday afternoon.

It's understood that the man who robbed the donation box also demanded money from the woman, and struck her with the crowbar when she refused.

A 45-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and is due before court tomorrow.
