Enda Kenny spent over €140,000 on travel during his final months in office, it has been revealed.
According to The Sunday Business Post, the outgoing Taoiseach took several high-profile trips after announcing his intention to leave the office, visiting New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Chicago, Rome and Berlin.
His annual seven-day trip to the US for St Patrick’s Day cost the taxpayer €77,000, with Kenny’s wife Fionnuala and seven staff staying at hotels that cost between €132 and €667 per person per night.
Almost €4,000 was also spent on photography during the US trip.
