7 Discontinued Beauty Products We Need Back In Our Lives

fionnuala

We have a bad habit of getting attached to beauty products. When we find something that works – a Holy Grail, as such – any slight reformulations mess with our brain.

Even worse still, is when a line decided to scrap our favourite products altogether.

If it’s not too painful for you, we’ve decided to revisit our favourite beauty products that are no more.

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in ‘Heather Shimmer’

The absolute Marmite of lipstick, this was very popular with ’90s babies. It was still the most popular shade of lipstick in the country last year, but Rimmel have since relaunched their Lasting Finish line, meaning that brown shade we know and love is no more.

It’s STILL available on the Superdrug website, but there’s not a sniff of it to be seen in Boots.

2. Benefit ‘So hooked on Carmella’ Perfume

Have you ever wanted to smell like the inside of a cake? This perfume let’s you do just that.

It’s discontinued over here, but you can still get it in America. Stock up if you’re planning a trip to the States any time soon!

Don’t get me wrong, Benefit’s other perfumes are equally gorge. But in the words of Sinéad O’Connor, nothing compares…

3. Catrice Gel Eyeliner in ‘Dating Joe Black’

Not entirely sure if this is discontinued, as I’ve seen pals pick it in a blue moon in Penneys. However, this beauty addict has searched high and low since discovering this gem three years ago, and it is NOWHERE to be seen. The stuff was jet black, and – bold claim here – lasted longer than MAC’s Black Track gel eyeliner.

4. MAC Lipstick in ‘Dressmaker Dressmaker’

This is a classic case of limited edition product releases ruining lives. ‘Dressmaker Dressmaker’ was a classic summer shade that will unfortunately never see the light of day again.

5. Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation

I remember getting visibly upset when YouTuber Nic Chapman of Pixiwoo fame announced in a video that Chanel would be discontinuing their Pro Lumiere Foundation. I HADN’T EVEN GOTTEN A CHANCE TO TRY IT?! WHERE’S THE JUSTICE?

The cult favourite was replaced by the Vita Lumiere foundation – with mixed reviews following its release.

6. Maybelline XXL Mascara

What’s better than a mascara? A mascara that does the job of TWO mascaras. This bad boy worked overtime for our eyeballs – lengthening AND volumising.

7. Urban Decay’s Lip Envy Lip Stains

Urban Decay are absolute divils for discontinuing stuff, but we were especially sour over this loss. They only came in two shades, ‘Greedy’ and ‘Envious’, but we loved both in equal amounts.

Also, can we appreciate the packaging? Pls. It’s still available on Beauty Bay, but they’re not shipping the product to Ireland.
