The Bus Éireann situation drives on...

An all-out strike at the Irish transport company was originally scheduled to begin last Monday but was suspended in order to allow for talks to take place.

Transport Minister Shane Ross has now called on all sides involved in the dispute to take a step back, and reflect on the issues at hand.

According to Today FM, Ross' call follows the breakdown of talks just yesterday at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) - something the Transport Minister has described as a "disappointing" development.

Following the collapse of the talks, Bus Éireann management's team mentioned that it is "clear at this stage is that the unions have no intention of reaching an agreement which will address the financial crisis" at the company.

The CEO of the National Transport Authority will meet with the Government's Joint Transport Committee later today to discuss the current financial situation at Bus Éireann.

The transport company released a discussion document on Monday, which stated that its financial situation is steadily worsening, with losses for 2016 now estimated at just under €10 million.
