We’ve had to live through the annual misery that is January but there are plenty of reasons why we can look forward to February with some positivity.
Such as:
1. The Six Nations is back
Six weeks of day drinkin’? Don’t mind if we do. It all gets underway on February 4.
2. As is the Superbowl
AKA when we all become experts in American sports for one night only. The New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons on February 5 with Lady Gaga performing the half-time show.

3. Pancake Tuesday
In 2017, the best flippin’ day of the year falls on February 28th.
4. There’s a grand aul’ stretch in the evenings
Which tends to bring out a number of emotions in Irish people.
5. Valentine’s Day
Love is all around us. Well, some of us.
6. Everyone is rich again
The end of January payday is always the most anticipated.
7. It’s the shortest month
Which means the next payday is just around the corner.
8. The Oscars
The glitz, the glamour, the speeches, the outfits. Clearly the best day on the movie calendar.

9. There’s loads to watch in the cinema
And with award season comes feckloads of great flicks. Loving, Jackie and T2: Trainspotting can all be caught in Irish cinemas in February.
10. Finally, Carnival gets underway on February 24th
Ireland’s massive Brazilian population means there’ll be loads of events to take part in.
See? Get outta here, January.
