Volunteer Planters Are Needed To Create Native Woodland

Would you like to get some fresh air, get your hands dirty and help plant some trees?

If so, then you're in luck.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland - and they're currently looking for lots of volunteers to help them continue planting a native woodland in the beautiful Wicklow mountains. The Trust achieves this by setting up woodland reserves around the country, such as the Laragh reserve. This reserves network allows the Trust to protect existing woodland as well as plant new native woodland for the future.

You don’t need to have any experience - they’ll show you what to do! However, there is a short, steep slope to get to the site and so this is not suitable for everyone. They provide tools but make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear.

Then come along to the Native Woodland Trust volunteer day on Sunday 22 January 2017 at the NWT Laragh Woodland. Don’t forget to bring along a snack and a drink! The more the merrier so bring your friends!

The meeting point for this event will be at 11am - approx. 1:15pm at Trooperstown Forest car park (located on the R755 Road between Annamoe and Laragh, Wicklow).

For a map and further details please check out their website or the events section of their Facebook page. And remember, that this event is weather dependent.
