Fresh Rescue 116 Searches Have Been Delayed Until Monday Due To Weather

James Fenton

Fresh searches for two missing crewmen from the ill-fated Rescue 116 helicopter have been postponed until Monday due to weather.

According to RTÉ, it had been hoped that the searches could get underway today but Superintendent Tony Healy, who is coordinating, says the search will now get under way on Monday when the weather improves.

In March, the helicopter went missing off the coast of Mayo. The bodies of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick and Captain Mark Duffy have since been found and identified while winch operator Paul Ormsby and winchman Ciarán Smith are still missing.
