James Fenton

The controversy rolls on.

Garda bosses are already under fire for the recent breathalyser scandal and now RTE are reporting that financial irregularities at the Garda college in Templemore are set to be revealed.

The report, which has been handed to the Minister For Justice Frances Fitzgerald, is said to contain evidence that money from the college was being spent on gifts and entertainment.

The irregularities are thought to have taken place over a number of years.

The news is sure to increase the pressure on Garda commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan who has come under fire in recent weeks for her handling of the recent controversies.
