Gardaí are investigating another suspected shebeen after similar discoveries in Co.Kildare and Co. Limerick over the New Year weekend.
This time, the shebeen is located in Westport, Co. Mayo and an update issued last night which said that ‘Gardaí conducted a search of a suspected shebeen in Westport, County Mayo, last night. People were found on the premises and a fully equipped bar was located. A significant amount of alcohol, glasses, beer taps, and a cooling unit were seized. A full investigation is underway.’

On New Year’s Eve, 15 people were found socialising in a makeshift pub close to Kildare town. This was followed on New Year’s Day by the discovery of a former pub operating as a shebeen in Rathkeale, Co. Limerick.
All incidents are being investigated by the Gardaí.
