Gardaí investigate assault at Dublin anti-mask protest following viral video

Gardaí have today launched an investigation into an assault following yesterday’s anti-mask protest in Dublin.

The anti-mask demonstration, organised by Yellow Vest Ireland, marched from Custom House Quay to Government Buildings yesterday starting at 1pm, with thousands turning out to protest Covid restrictions and the use of face coverings.

According to The Journal, Gardaí had to intervene at Leinster House when the protesters clashed with counter protesters.

A video being shared widely on Twitter shows LGBT rights and Repeal the Eighth activist Izzy Kamikaze being pushed to the ground amid the counter-protests.

Gardaí at Pearse St have confirmed that they are investigating this incident. Gardaí have said there has been no formal complaint, and no arrests made in the investigation.

Izzy Kamikase wrote on Twitter:

‘I was assaulted under the noses of dozens of Gardaí.’
