As part of discussions today on a major reopening of Irish society, the Government is hoping to finalise plans to host “expanded capacity” sporting events in June. Separate to this, it is hope 100 people to be allowed in June, rising to 200 in bigger venues. Up to 5,000 people, or 25% of capacity will be able to attend events at outdoor venues from August, subject to confirmation from Government Buildings.
The five events that are being mooted for “expanded capacity” in June are:
June 11: Leinster v Dragons, RDS
June 11: Shamrock Rovers v Finn Harps, Tallaght Stadium
June 11: Cork City v Cabinteely, Turners Cross
June 20: Camogie league final, Croke Pk
June 25 or 26 or 27: Irish Gold Cup meeting, The Curragh
It is not yet known how many people would be able to attend these events. Full confirmation is expected following a announcement later this evening.
