After a dry start to the day, Met Eireann are forecasting wind and rain with lows of 1 to 5C.
A forecaster said: “Cold and bright this morning with showers in the north gradually becoming more widespread through the country.
“The showers will be heavy but will pass over fairly quickly in the gusty northwest winds.
“The first half of the night will be generally dry and clear but cloud will increase later in the night and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will affect western counties.
“Lows of 1 to 5C with patchy frost in the east of the country.”
Bank Holiday Monday isn’t looking much better, with scattered outbreaks of rain expected.
