Here’s What To Wear To Improve Your Chances Of Upgrading A Flight

The airport is a funny place when it comes to attire – There’s those who have rolled straight our of bed, thrown on a trackie and barely brushed their hair, hens and stags wearing cringe-worthy t-shirts and others who are dolled up to the nines to take that obligatory “check-in photo” to share on Facebook.

Whichever one of those you are, you’re actually minimising your chances of bagging yourself an upgrade on your flight, believe it or not.

Who What Wear spoke to a number of cabin crew members to find out what kind of person they go for when upgrading passengers.

One flight attendant said: “When we fly, we have a strict dress code to follow.”

“No jeans or trainers – so I always go for tight black trousers and a blazer or a dress. For men, chinos or trousers and a shirt are worn.”

However, it’s important not to over-do it either.

Another cabin crew member remarked: “For an upgrade, it’s all about looking the part. Smart but understated.”

“You should look like you travel often. But don’t be dripping in designer clothing. It helps; someone who is potentially due to get an upgrade can be knocked back if they aren’t dressed suitably.”

Looks like we should reconsider our outfit next time we are catching a flight!
