Ireland have opened their 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign with a 19-17 victory over Australia after a nail-biting finish at UCD.

Ireland went 7-0 ahead after 20 minutes when a Larissa Muldoon was converted by Nora Stapleton.
Australia hit back through an unconverted try as Ireland went in at the break 7-5 ahead.
The second half saw two more tries each but it was Ireland who held out for the crucial win.
