The HSE has cancelled some “non-essential” appointments today as a result of the severe weather.

In Louth and Meath, the HSE will only offer essential services for the duration of the Status Red weather warning.

BreastCheck appointments have been cancelled in counties where a red weather warning has been issued – so far that’s Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath until tomorrow noon, and the whole of Munster and Leinster from tomorrow at 4pm until noon on Friday.

In Temple Street Children’s Hospital, Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the National Children’s Hospital, some outpatient clinics, elective and routine procedures have been cancelled.

“If you have a hospital, GP or health centre appointment today please contact the facility to ensure it is still taking place,” the HSE advised.

“Do not make any unnecessary journeys and if you need to cancel a scheduled HSE appointment because you are unable to travel, please make contact with the facility to advise them.”
