PICS: Irish Drivers Warned That Roads Are Melting As Tarmac Hits 44C

Jen

Irish drivers are being warned to take care as roads are set to hit 44 degrees and melt in the sweltering heat and road temperatures

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has said: “Hot weather means hot roads and softer road surfaces.

“We are reminding road users to be careful of surfaces becoming slick and dangerous, particularly on minor roads. Please exercise caution when braking.”

Pictures posted on the facebook page, Garda Checkpoints and Speed Cameras Galway shows how tyres of one car had been covered in tar.

Mayo County Council said on Twitter that they would grit the roads if it was needed.

The HSE has also urged the public to stay indoors during the sunniest part of the day, 11am-3pm.

Stay safe, lads.
