Irish drivers are advised to take care on roads this weekend after snow and ice was forecast nationwide.
A Status Yellow Snow and Ice Warning is in place for the entire country until midday today, with conditions worst in the west and north of the country.
AA Roadwatch have warned drivers that “care is needed around Munster and Connacht as well as parts of the midlands.”
Irish motorists are advised to follow the advice from AA Roadwatch:
“Make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time to de-ice your car. Remember that stopping distances are ten times longer in ice and snow so leave plenty of distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
“Slow down and allow extra time for your journey.”
Collisions have occurred already this morning in Galway and Longford, where a lorry jackknifed.
