Irish Lawyer Admits To Being “Racist And Abusive” On Air India Flight

A lawyer from Northern Ireland has admitted to being “racist and abusive” to airline staff on an Air India flight after she was refused more alcohol.

Footage of Simone O’Broin (also known as Simone Burns) shouting at staff on the flight from Mumbai to London went viral last November, where she was said to have called them “Indian money-grabbing c****”.

She was also found smoking a cigarette in the toilet at one point during the flight, spat at a flight attendant and told another member of staff to f*** off” when they tried to intervene.

The abuse was said to have continued “over a long period of time”.

Burns was initially served three bottles of wine as she sat in business class but later said “I’m a f****** international lawyer” after she was refused more.

Tarun Shukla, a journalist with The Economic Times Prime, posted the videos on his Twitter account soon after the incident and said, “Even the other passengers are embarrassed. So shameful.”

Burns, 50, who is said to be an Irish national, was arrested and taken to a London police station after landing and was later bailed.

On Wednesday, she pleaded guilty to being drunk on an aircraft and assault by beating at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court and will be sentenced on April 4.
