Irish Parents Warned Not To Post Back-To-School Photos Of Kids On Social Media

Alana Laverty

Irish parents are being warned to be careful when posting back-to-school photos of their children on social media.

One photo with a caption can give away more information that you’d think.

Parents often share their child’s name, an estimate of their age (depending on what class they’re going into), where the child goes to school (school uniform) and even where they live, according to Independent.ie

Parents should adjust their privacy setting and disable geo-location settings.

A spokesperson for CyberSafeIreland suggested parents share back-to-school photos in a more private way – through email or private instant messaging.
