The Irish Independent is reporting that Gardaí have arrested two members of a prolific burglary gang that has carried out at least 50 raids over the last two months.
The rural gang members were arrested in Sligo over the weekend as part of Operation Thor, an ongoing operation by Gardaí to tackle organised crime.
Two males, aged 22 and 32 were arrested and two high-powered vehicles were also seized.
The arrests were carried out on Friday at 4pm by uniformed Gardaí from Collooney station.
They were assisted by members of the Garda Air Support Unit.
The two burglars have since been released without charge.
They are originally from Limerick and are part of a four man gang causing havoc along the west coast.
A source told the publication that the gang members have carried out at least 50 burglaries since Christmas.
