He is expected to begin his trip in Belfast.

US President Joe Biden is set to visit the island of Ireland for five days next month, according to reports.

Multiple outlets state that Biden is expected to begin his trip in Belfast on Tuesday, 11 April, before traveling to Dublin the following day, where he will be based for the rest of the visit.

While in the Irish capital, it is reported that the US President will meet Irish President Michael D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin, while Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will host a reception for him at Farmleigh House, which is also in Phoenix Park.

On top of this, it is said that, while in the Republic of Ireland, the US President may make day trips to Louth and Mayo where he has family connections.

As previously reported, Biden’s arrival is set to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, an event that the American President is believed to be keen to mark.

Given his Irish roots, President Biden is a strong supporter of the Emerald Isle, with the 80-year-old having stood firm next to the Republic in the recent Brexit negotiations with the United Kingdom.
