July 2020 has been a bit erratic on the weather front but it looks like things are going to get worse before the month is out.
At various points, July has been masquerading as January, October and November with the odd few hours of sunshine thrown in for good measure. Not ideal during a month where we’re all being encouraged to take a staycation, is it?
Well, you won’t be glad to know that July has saved the worst of its weather for a grand finale over the next week or so. According to Met Éireann, Ireland is set to be visited by widespread heavy showers as well as thundery downpours over the coming days with the worst of the weather looking like it will take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Heavy and widespread showers will occur on Friday before much of the same on Saturday along with some ‘thundery downpours.’ Sunday will offer some brief respite, although there will be scattered showers throughout the day.
Widespread rain is expected to return on Monday, while the further outlook for the last week of July is ‘looking unsettled and changeable with further rain or showers moving through from the Atlantic, but some drier and brighter periods too.’
Good riddance to the strangest July in memory. Roll on August, although we probably shouldn’t expect too much of an improvement given how 2020 has gone so far. You can read about the weather for the week ahead in more detail here.
