Gardaí are investigating a shooting threat at a Kildare school after it was announced that it would be closed due to children’s safety risks.
Scoil Dara in Kilcock confirmed on its website last night, that it would close on Tuesday and a statement from the board of management read:
“Following a meeting of the Board of Management of Scoil Dara late this evening, it has been decided to close the school to students tomorrow Tuesday, 5 December pending a safety risk assessment.
“Sincere apologies for the late notice and inconvenience.”
Although the statement did not go into detail about what the safety risk might be, The Journal.ie understand that a note was written on one of the toilet walls.
Speculation on social media also states that the note told people that a shooter would come to the school on the first Tuesday in December, that everyone was at risk and no one could be trusted.
Gardaí are aware of the matter and an investigation is currently ongoing.
