We can only imagine the feeling of panic that washes over you when you realise you lost your wedding ring. Do you sneakily replace it or own up?
Luckily for Kilkenny man Declan Whearty, he was reunited with his lost wedding band… Although it did take 17 years.
St. Canice’s Credit Union found a ring in a box of old lost and property when they were doing office renovations, and decided to post on their Facebook page in an attempt to find the owner.
“Anyone know a ‘Margaret & Declan’ who were married in 1994.
“The full date is engraved on the inside of their wedding band, which is in lost property in our High St. Kilkenny branch.”
Declan had lost his ring walking home from O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club, but it was dark and he couldn’t find it the next day.
He told Kilkenny People: “Over the years I thought about buying a new one but it would not have been the same. It is great to have the ring back and this time I will make sure it doesn’t fall off.”
And would you ever believe it – in less than 24 hours the ring was back on Declan’s finger after someone tagged his wife on the Facebook post.
Just LOOK how happy they are!
