The number of people who are signed onto the Live Register is at its lowest in nine years.
CSO released the figures for July which not only saw a monthly decrease of -1.2%, but also a significant long-term drop.
July’s figure of 274,385 meant an annual decrease of -14.0%.
The Live Register, which includes those entitled to Jobseeker’s Benefit and Jobseeker’s Allowance, has seen fluctuating numbers over the last few years as the country struggles to bounce back from the recession.
