If you're ecstatic after Ireland's win over the All Blacks, imagine how you'd be if you found out you had just won a million in the Irish lotto.
The results were released just shortly after Ireland had put the All Blacks to the sword and someone has scooped the Lotto Plus one jackpot of €1m.
The numbers in that draw were: 4, 25, 27, 28, 39, 41 and a bonus of 29 and the winning ticket was sold in Cork.
The winning normal play ticket was sold at the Applegreen store on the Cork road in Skibbereen, Co. Cork.
The delighted owner of the Skibbereen Applegreen store, Paul Connolly said, “We could’t believe it when we got the call, it's just incredible. This is our biggest Lotto win to date and we could not be happier for our customers.
"We are situated on the main Cork road so we get a lot of passing traffic – the winner could be absolutely anybody. We have a lot of locals in the store this morning so they are all anxiously checking their tickets in the hope that they have the one that’s worth a million euro!”
There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot but over 35,000 players won prizes and the jackpot of over €4m rolls over to Wednesday.
The numbers in the main draw were: 3, 4, 20, 21, 37, 42, and a bonus of 17 and the numbers for the Lotto Plus 2 draw were: 6, 16, 23, 30, 35, 42 and a bonus of 2.
On Friday, the National Lottery reminded Lotto players in Galway city to urgently check their Lotto tickets as a Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000 from Saturday 1st September still remains unclaimed.
Ticketholders have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. The claim deadline of close of business on Friday 30th November is just two weeks away.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at the busy Eason store on Shop Street in the heart of Galway city on Friday 31st August.
The winning Lotto Plus 2 numbers for the draw on Saturday 1st September were:
03, 14, 24, 26, 30, 33 and the Bonus: 01
Chief Executive of the National Lottery, Dermot Griffin has again highlighted the importance of players checking their Lotto tickets regularly after each draw to ensure that they do not miss out on life-changing prizes:
“I am calling on all of all of our players who may have been in Galway city on Friday 31st August to double-check their homes, pockets, handbags and cars for this very valuable Lotto ticket which is worth a quarter of a million euro.
"Since the Lotto game enhancements were introduced last September, over €25 million has been won in prizes, so now more than ever, it is important that players check their tickets after each and every draw.”
