Met Éireann Issues Weather Warning For SEVEN Counties Ahead Of Storm Caroline

Darragh Berry

Met Éireann has issued a warning ahead of Storm Caroline on Thursday.

The status yellow wind warning is valid from 3am on Thursday morning until 8pm that evening and was issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the forecasters:

“An Atlantic storm will pass close to the north coast of Scotland on Thursday morning. The UK Met Office have named it Storm Caroline. Severe winds will affect parts of Scotland, but it will generate strong and blustery winds over Ireland also.

“Northwest winds of 55 to 65 are expected to gust 100 to 110 km/h – strongest winds in coastal areas and over high ground.”

Yesterday we were told to expect some snow as an arctic blast was due to hit Ireland.

So, if your county isn’t under the weather warning banner, it’s still a good idea to take extra care on the roads as it will be cold and temperatures will linger between -2C to 1C.
