Man Who Was Left In A Coma For Six Months Following Assault Dies In North

Gardaí are investigating the death of a 36 year old man at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on the 2nd June 2018. 

Seamus Bell of Foxfield, Carrickmacross, who had been the victim of an alleged assault at Main Street, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on the 20th January 2018, was pronounced dead on Bank Holiday Saturday. 

Mr Bell had been in hospital since the assault at the start of the year. 

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and Professor Cassidy will carry out a Post Mortem examination at 12pm on Sunday the 3rd June 2018. 

A 34-year-old man, Vytautas Racys of Loughglack, Carrickmacross, was arrested on Sunday 21st January 2018 in connection with this investigation. 

He is currently in custody in Cloverhill Prison charged with an offence under section 4 Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 and is due to appear in Court in Cloverhill on the 21st June 2018.
