More Than 1,500 Motorists In Ireland Will Be Getting Refunds Following An Overcharging Incident

If you’ve used the Drogheda toll plaza on the M1 motorway recently, you might be entitled to a refund.

Fine Gael TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Transport Committe, Fergus O’Dowd has said that more than 1,500 motorists had been overcharged at this location and are due a refund. Not only that, but the toll operator Celtic Roads Group may also face financial penalties, according to Independent.ie.

It was discovered that many electronic payment tag holders, who should not be charged a second time for resuming a journey on the motorway if they returned to the road in less than three hours, were being being charged incorrectly. This overcharging amounted to €6,000 in total.

O’Dowd will ensure that the overcharged motorists will be fully refunded and the Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is set to conduct a full audit on the mishap.
