The operation will see 2,500 Gardaí deployed daily on 132 checkpoints around the country in order to ensure compliance with Covid-19 regulations. Trainee Gardaí are among the officers policing the rules, with all training at the Garda college suspended for the next nine weeks.
Parks, beauty spots, beaches and other public amenities will see a large Garda presence over the next few weeks, with Level 5 restrictions expected to be in place until at least December 1. People are asked not to travel more than 5km from their homes except for essential reasons while only a maximum of two households can meet up outside.
