Penneys to create 700 new jobs as part of redevelopment programme

Katy Thornton

Big news for Penneys lovers (that’s all of us, right?).

We are big fans of Penneys over here so this comes as hugely welcome news. According to RTÉ News, Penneys is set to create 700 new jobs due to a new redevelopment plan and €250m of capital investment.

This plan will see brand new stores in Ireland, as well as the refurbishment of current stores. One such new store will pop up in The Square in Tallaght and is set to employ 300 people.

RTÉ News reports that: “The plan will see the company increase its total retail space in Ireland by 20% over the next decade.” Counties with stores set for expansion include Cork, Galway, and Kildare. Carlow’s Penneys is looking to be moved into a larger space this coming summer.

The job roles going will include full-time and part-time retail assistants, managers, as well as positions in Penneys’ Head Office in the Dublin City Centre.

This is good news for the economy… and even better news for all of us Penneys fans.
