The CEO of the Irish Restaurant’s Association has said that common sense is needed after €20,000 was awarded to a woman who banged her leg on a restaurant table.
According to the Irish Independent, Annette O’Connor was awarded the damages by the High Court after the incident at the Mullingar Park Hotel.
It was alleged that a tablecloth had obscured her view of the table.
Adrian Cummins said:
“You have to inject a bit of common sense into this. The problem is that claim on top of all the other claims, drives everybody’s insurance through the roof.
I think the judiciary is out of touch with what is happening in Irish society. People think it is easy to claim for trivial incidents.”
20k for banging a knee under a restaurant table. Surely it’s not April Fools Day ! Time to say stop to ???? ambulance chasing. If you agree RT
