The R242 road in Donegal has been renamed to honour a famous Star Wars character.
The new ‘R2D2’ road in Malin Head was changed just in time for Malin Head’s ‘May The 4th Be With You’ Star Wars Festival, to go ahead on May 4.
Donegal County Council approved the proposal to rename the road from Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray.

The decision to change the name of the road was sparked by scenes shot in Donegal for the latest Star Wars film.
The ‘May the 4th Be With You’ festival will include a Star Wars themed 3km Fun Run, Yoda Yoga on the beach and outdoor drive-in movie screenings.
