RTÉ is defending their decision to include a celebrity in their new series of ‘Dancing With The Stars’.

Demi Isaac Oviawe – of The Young Offenders fame – is currently in her Leaving Cert year and the national broadcaster had come under scrutiny for agreeing to have her come on the show as she faces such big exams.

The actress, better known as Linda in the famous Irish show based in Cork, faces a heavy rehearsal schedule for the show on top of her studies but in a statement released to The Irish Independent, RTÉ has said that they were giving full permission for Oviawe to be on the show.

The actress was left very emotional on Sunday night when she was given just 10 points for her dance.

Judges Julian Benson, Brian Redmond, and Loraine Barry criticised the actress on her technique.

The scores left her at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Demi started crying following the criticism and told everyone: “Sorry I’m getting so emotional.”
